This new pilot program based in Truro, NS, introduces an account based system that lets you drop off your beverage containers in seconds and claim your refund later—no waiting, no sorting, no hassle. Even better, the Drop & Go station is open 24/7, giving you total flexibility to recycle on your schedule.

How it works

Step 1: Create your account

Register for free using a valid phone number. Once your account has been created and verified, you are ready to use the Drop & Go station.

Step 2: Bag your containers

Once your account has been activated, get your refundable containers ready for drop off.

How to bag your containers:

Ensure your bags are clear or transparent.

Do not use black garbage bags for your containers.

Check the eligibility of your containers before bagging.

Only containers that are eligible within Nova Scotia’s Deposit-Refund program will receive a refund. To learn more about what is accepted and what is not, click here

Don’t crush or flatten your beverage containers.

We know it might be tempting, but crushed or flattened containers can be difficult for our staff and counting technology to read or scan the labels. If the depot is unable to verify that your containers are part of the program, they may not be able to issue a refund.

Don’t overload your bags with glass bottles.

To prevent breakage and for the safety of depot staff, we ask that you put a maximum of 12 glass bottles in each bag along with your other beverage containers. Beer bottles can be returned in their original box and the tag can be placed on the box.

Don’t put garbage or any other materials in your bags.

Drop & Go is only able to process recyclable beverage containers. Mixing contents with non-refundable items may mean we aren’t able to issue a refund.

Step 3: Drop off

Bring your bags to the Drop & Go station.

At the kiosk, log in to your account using your phone number. Enter the number of bags, then attach a label to each bag of beverage containers.

Place your bags in one of the designated drop areas and go!

Important:

  • Only print tags for the bags you are dropping off at this time.
  • Any unused or expired tags (older than 48 hours) will not be accepted.

  • Any Interac e-Transfer that is not collected within 30 days of sending will be cancelled automatically and returned to the account.
