Overview
Properly disposing of paint and paint containers is crucial to protecting the environment. By recycling used paint cans, you can help avoid chemical contamination in soil, storm drains and oceans.
Nova Scotia’s paint recycling program is administered by Product Care Recycling, an industry organization separate from Divert NS. When you purchase paint, you pay a one-time environmental fee to support the cost of recycling any leftover paint and paint cans.
Your Role
You can bring your leftover paint and empty paint containers to select Enviro-Depots or to a Product Care paint collection site near you — for free.
10.3 million liters of paint were recovered in 2019. That’s equivalent to 1.4 seconds of water flow through the Saint Lawrence River!
