She has spent her entire 28-year career working in Nova Scotia’s waste management industry, including 9 years as Divert NS’ Director of Programs and Development. Robert is currently in his second term as Warden for the Municipality of the County of Pictou and is serving in his 13th year on Council. Previous to being elected to Council, Robert served for 13 years, the final four as Chair, of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. Robert is new to the Waste Management Regional Chairs and Divert NS, but is keenly interested, along with his Council, in cleaning up our countryside and improving our environment generally by continuing the great improvements that have been made to reduce, reuse, and recycle over the past 20 years.

She also worked as Vice President of the Atlantic Region for the soft drink industry. Prior to joining the beverage industry, Calla was a journalist and worked at CBC Newsworld, Global News and The Canadian Press. Calla has an EMBA from Saint Mary’s University and is a graduate of the Chartered Director program at McMaster University’s Directors College. She has served on more than 10 boards of directors and brings to the Divert Board both her governance experience and passion for protecting the environment.

Dr. Chijioke Emenike is a professor of environmental remediation and residue chemistry at the department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences, Dalhousie University. He holds a Bachelor of Scienc
...e in Microbiology/Biochemistry, a Master’s degree in Environmental Management, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology and Bioremediation. Chijioke Emenike leads research in sustainable environments, agroecosystems management, polymer degradation, waste-to-wealth, and biomass conversion. His most recent research projects developed new directions in toxicity evaluations, contaminated site remediation and pollution control, and sustainable waste management using novel chemical sciences and biotechnology methods. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Hezekiah University, Nigeria. Emenike is the Founder and Director of CUEME Integrated Technologies and Services Limited, a management organization that promotes environmental protection and conservation among other allied services. He is a member of many international affiliations including ECO Canada, Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society, Malaysia Society of Waste Management & Environment, and the Technical Working Group on End-of-Life Products, By-products and Residues of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials. Emenike also serves as an editorial board member and reviewer of several international journals.
