International Compost Awareness Week is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry. It is celebrated nationwide and in other countries each year during the first full week of May. Started in Canada in 1995, International Compost Awareness Week has continued to grow as more people, businesses, municipalities, schools and organizations are recognizing the importance of composting and the long-term benefits from organics recycling.
Approximately 90 per cent of Nova Scotians have access to curbside compost collection. What better way to celebrate #CompostAwarenessWeek than by reaping the rewards of your year-round compost efforts? See the list below of compost giveaway events happening across the province or contact your municipality for details. All giveaways are while supplies last!
